What I Liked About the Chris Voss MasterClass

I really liked Chris Voss’s MasterClass on negotiation because it gave me useful tips I could try right away. Instead of just talking, Chris showed how to do things like mirroring and labeling in simple exercises.

The stories he shared, especially the one about negotiating with a bank robber, made the lessons interesting and showed me how to use the skills in real life.

The best part was the practice negotiations. Dealing with a teenager, a rival, and even a high-pressure situation in the “60 Seconds or She Dies” scenario helped me understand how to use what I learned in different situations. Chris explains things in a way that’s easy to understand, breaking down the hard parts into smaller bits.

The lessons about how to talk, read body language, and handle tough situations were really helpful. The way Chris teaches makes it all feel doable and not too complicated. The class goes in a nice order, so each lesson builds on what you learned before.

In simple words, what I liked most about the Chris Voss MasterClass is that it’s practical, interesting, and easy to follow. It’s a great way to get better at negotiating in real life.

What Could Be Improved

As I’ve said, I really like The Art of Negotiation by Chris Voss. I think he explains things clearly and he knows what he’s talking about, but if I have to pick something he could improve on it would be the pace of the course.

Some learners might find certain sections moving a bit quickly, especially when practicing exercises like mirroring and labeling. Slowing down in these moments could help ensure everyone grasps the techniques before moving on.

Additionally, while the case studies, like the one involving the Chase Manhattan Bank Robber, are informative, having more diverse examples could further broaden the application of the principles. Including negotiations from various industries or personal scenarios could make the content even more relatable to a wider audience.

We do have to keep in mind that Chris has to put these lessons into lessons that are about 10 minutes long so it’s hard to go really in-depth on everything.
